Helsinki University offers Swedish for foreigners. The course details will be available on their Internet-site in August. Please, follow the link below in August to find out more about the possibilities. See also Language Service

  • Open University 

Finnish universities organise Open University courses for all; you can take part regardless of your age, educational aims or previous schooling. For more information, see www.avoinyliopisto.fi

  • Adult Education Institutes 

There are nearly 10 000 courses on offer at Helsinki Region Adult Education Centres. You may take courses at any institute, regardless of your place of residence. You will only need to provide your social security number and your first and last name to enrol. For courses and enrolments, see www.ilmonet.fi

There is a Swedish section of the Työväenopisto in Espoo, Vantaa and Kaunianen. In them you find courses in Swedish, which are aimed to Finnish speakers. However, you can always check with the teacher if you can join in.

         Adult Education Centre of Kauniainen, Grankulla medborgarinstitut

Another way to practise your Swedish is to enrol to e.g. a pottery or cooking course in Swedish at one the Adult Educations Institutes above. These courses are of course available in each city. The enrolment to the courses is usually in the end of August and January. The courses get filled up quickly.

Finnish for foreigners at the University of Helsinki (Language Services). You do not need to be enrolled as a student at the University of Helsinki in order to participate in these courses!
